From its very beginnings, some general idea of medicine is to make people live longer, healthier and at the end happier. There were many breakthough discoveries in the filed of medicine, but it seems that today’s digital technology could truly transform the healthcare – from improving patient treatment to balancing workload for the nurses and doctors. There are many possible adaptation of innovative technology in healthcare: from VR and AI applications to tracking hospital inventory. Here are some of my discoveries that I see as ones with great potential. Navenio that has in cooperation with University of Oxford developed infrastructure-free, highly scalable, accurate and robust indoor location solution that basically crowdsource self-learning building maps over time – their idea is to create “Uber for porters” in a hospital. Another solution that I see rather useful is manufacturing tailored made pharmaceutical pills by leveraging 3D printing technology. Solution is introduced by specialist biotech company FabRx and it should help us get the the pill with dose of medicine suited to our needs and probably with the mixture of different medicines in that one pill. MedHerant is developing a solution that might be useful for toddlers and elderly that might have a problem of taking care when’s the time for the medicine – thus delivering medicine by a skin patch seems like a perfect solution.
