While I was looking for some new sport activity that my wife and I could start practicing, and spend some quality time together I found a very interesting IoT like proposition nad since there are quite a few tennis courts around the area where we live, decision was obvious. Since we didn’t play tennis before we needed to find a right trainer and also buy the proper tennis equipment. So, after consulting with some of my friends that play tennis, I started investigating where to get the right offer. I’ve read that ITF (International Tennis Federation) allows usage of “smart rackets” in professional matches since 2014., so I have immediately started investigating what’s it all about and where to get one – I found Babolat racket (there are probably others, but this is first one I found). This smart racket comes with mobile app that provides vital insights for analyzing the technique for improving your game. Embedded in the racket are a 6 axis motion tracking device, a 3 axis accelerometer sensor and associated electronics in a package that is just 4 x 4 x 9mm and weighs just 1 gram hence it doesn’t impact natural feel in the player’s hand. I’ll keep you informed how it helped me improve my game and how it did help me winning vs. my wife who’s really competitive and all in for winning. Who knows what might happen with my “smart racket” if she reads this news. Unfortunately, the racket doesn’t have tracking option in case it gets “lost”.
