Siemens have announced the acquisition of Mendix for a hefty price of $730M. The main reason for this purchase is to make it easier for system integrators, solution providers and app developers using Siemens Mindsphere IoT platform to make applications faster and easier. Mendix is well known for the low code application development technology which can speed up programming and deploying apps up to 10 times! This news just confirms the trend that the old industry power houses are investing heavily to bridge the digital gap and to be the more attractive to app developers.
